In 2015, the US EPA established a new rule requiring all petroleum refineries to monitor the emissions of Benzene around the facilities’ perimeter using sorbent tubes that passively sample air for 2-week periods (EPA Method 325). A minimum of 12 locations are to be sampled at each refinery and each location is to be sampled continuously throughout the year with two-week sampling intervals. Beacon is leading the industry in the development and analysis of passive sampling techniques using adsorbents and is pleased to announce that Beacon is the first laboratory to receive accreditation for EPA Method 325. In addition, Beacon is the first field sampling and measurement organization to receive accreditation for the collection of air samples in accordance with EPA Method 325.
